This made me chuckle. And by blogging it I’m acutely aware of the infinite irony loop I’ve created. It follows a similar meme theme raised recently, criticising the incessant over-analysis and navel-gazing in the “social media marketing” “sector”. (Intended separation of double quotes).

Energy Alternatives

Underground coal gasification, solar power, the pebble bed modular reactor and Inga 3 were among the topics discussed when Eskom hosted the bloggers to dinner on Dec 8. On December 1, the bloggers were welcomed at Stormhoek winery near Wellington. Owner Graham Knox had some some of his wonderful champers labelled in our honour (the stain in the picture happened after we got the stuff home). He told us about his winemaking philosophy and we were treated to a tasting. The Pinotage, in particular, was glorious. Later that evening, we repaired to the Lanzerac in Stellenbosch, where Graham gave us a presentation on Stormhoek’s groundbreaking use of social media to build a globally renowned brand.

This just in. Stormhoek is trying to crack the wine market in west Texas. A small market, but as the man says, if you can sell a South African wine in west Texas, you can sell it anywhere.
